Sustainable House in Wollongong

The pictures are of a new house in Wollongong we recently completed. The client drew up the design they loved and listed some features they wanted. It includes 2000L rainwater tanks for flushing toilets, washing machines and watering gardens. Gas instantaneous hot water. 16KWH solar system ready to be switched to battery enabling the house to go off grid. Even in this high tech world, it will be enough to cater for the 5 double power points in each room running computers and internet with cat 5 cables with fastest internet speeds, TVs and all electronics.

Ecowood decking, a composite material made of plantation bamboo and recycled plastic to create a durable maintenance free deck. Plantation pine timber frames. Ezylite skylight, a solar light that enables you to have a skylight (on during the day and off during the night) in the middle of a house on a ground floor without a direct access to the roof or walls for natural light. Not costing a cent to run. The walls are lined with metal linear cladding with a foam backing and an air gap between the sheets and sarking. The frame then has R2.5 insulation in the walls and R3 In the ceiling  which keeps the house at a constant temperature meaning the owner has not yet had to use any heating or cooling methods.
